I am just curious really, do you put your DC into your bed before your bedtime, they go to sleep and you join them later or do you go to bed at the same time?

When we coslept with dd, we put her to sleep on a sofabed downstairs until we went to bed, then took her up with us. Didn't want to risk her falling out of bed, or getting tangled up in the covers or anything, and she hated the cot. With ds (my 1st), we did pretty much the same, but he was in a cot in his own room in the evening from about 8mos on, whereas dd was still in her sofabed until she was 2.5. They both sleep happily in their own beds all night now, I'm glad to say Grin

Thanks whydobirds,

We sometimes coslept with DD when she was under 1 and I would have continued except frankly she was too wriggly and thought it was playtime and chatting time and wouldn't let me sleep.

Now she is 2.5 nearly I sometimes think it would be easier to have her with me sometimes but she won't settle in our bed which is probably for the best.

Mine goes to bed in his own bed where he is placed after falling asleep downstairs. I know this is not ideal but he is a nightmare and this is the only workable solution. He co-sleeps with us every night from what ever time he wanders in (usually 11 ish). My other two sleep well in their own beds, its just DS1 that co-sleeps. (He is 4)

Hmm. well ds 1 and 3 started to sleep in cot then as the night progressed they would either climb into our bed or we picked them up and they would be brought to our bed. dd never got on with co sleeping. She preferred the cot.

I read somewhere once that co sleeping around the world is the norm.

Oh and when they were little I and they would fall asleep on the boob.

DrSophila, I remember bfeeding DD and both of us dozing off afterwards, it was blissful when she was so tiny and new. You have just brought back some happy memories!
