Chattering at Night

DD (12 months) goes through phases of waking at night to chatter for over an hour every night. Time varies - last night 2.30 - 3.30 night before 5.00 - 6.00.
She just chats REALLY loudly. I have found going in makes things bad as unless i pick her up she starts to really scream. She has resisted any attempts to find her in the night since about 6 months (I've tried!!). So I just lie awake for an hour listening to 'Dadada ahhhhhhhh eeeeeee mumumumum eoeo' shouted out.
What can I do?? Does anyone elses little lovely do this or is she totally odd??

DS, 5 months, does this. As lovely as it is to hear, not at stupid o'clock in the morning. But then, mine is still in our room so there really is no getting away from it!
Can you turn your monitor down so you'll still hear her cry, but not every single sound she makes?
Oh, and my sister also has this with her DD, 20 months, practising: "Hello mummy/ daddy/ nana/ grandad" etc etc.

find = feed sorry!

I love it from about ooo 6am onwards. At half two it just makes me want to weep I'm afraid!

No monitor anyway- she's really quite loud!

I was wondering if it's developmental actually which kinda matches your sister's experience matana. Think the last phase was just before she started walking properly. This week I've had some big work stuff and dh is being crap so it's just totally the wrong week for another one of these phases.

I guess we come back to the 'It will pass' mantra!!

I feel like the whole of DS's little life so far has been an unending procession of 'it'll pass' phases! A cold, then a growth spurt, then a sleep regression, then teething, then another cold etc etc! I actually don't know what his 'usual' eat/ sleep pattern is from one week to the next - it's all a mystery to me. But i do love seeing all his practice and hard work paying off. He is absolutely obsessed with his feet now and his favourite game is holding one foot whilst attempting to grab his play gym giraffe with his other hand. Who says men can't multi-task? Grin

And his chattering starts any time between 3 and 5.30am....
