Is there a 5 month sleep regression??

DD (22 weeks) had JUST (or so I thought) come out of the 4 month sleep regression, back to comparatively blissful nights of midnight and 3/4 am feeds. This lasted only long enough to preserve my sanity a few nights and now her sleep is all over the place again - every 2 hours at night and nothing but food will get her back down. Is this another sleep regression? How many if these darned things are we going to have to go through??! Help please!

Hi Dreema. I was literally going to come and write your post this morning. DS has started to have terrible nights at the moment (he's 21 weeks).

I was feeling quite smug relieved that we managed to avoid a monstrous 4 month regression; he had a huge growth spurt which lasted about a week and was every 1.5 - 2 hour wakings but still managing from 7pm - about 11pm for the first stint. But now.....................

He was up at 8pm, 9pm, 11.30pm, 1am, 3am and then every hour until just after 7. No idea why. i managed to resettle for a couple of wake ups, either a dummy and a cuddle if he's back in his cot or when i gave up and brought him into bed with me singing twinkle twinkle little star and stroking his hands seems to work but after 3am he was waking up and breaking his little heart as if he was starving.

Things that i think could be affecting him - teeth? also my DS is such a fidget bum at the moment, i can't change his nappy without him rolling over and trying to play with anything and everything. Getting him dressed is like a wrestling match and he cannot keep still, even when he's exhausted it seems the more tired he is the more he flaps his arms around and tries to chew his fingers and toes. So i'm wondering if there's a develepmental leap that i don't know about.

Sorry to ramble on, just thought i'd let you know you're not alone

Oh gosh yes, the dressing and changing while rolling. DD is also looking scarily like she's trying to crawl so perhaps you're onto something there with the developmental leaps. But... Can't they just hold off for a few weeks so we can get some sleep??!! She only does 45 min naps as well which is infuriating when I know she needs more sleep but I have tried everything and she still pops her eyes open bang after 45 mins and grins at me - 'playtime Mummy!'

God i hope not! DS is about to enter 5 month territory, having gone through the 4 month one. I am getting used to better sleep!

Hey Dreema, how was your night last night? Ours was bloody awful, really don't know what's got into DS :-(
