He went through a phase about a year ago and we put it down to the books he was reading and so steered him towards more bedtime friendly titles.

Suddenly it has started again and it is not his bedtime reading that can be causing it this time. It always happens around 3.30/3.45 am and it's to do with monsters, burglars ate. He is constantly asking about how burglars rob houses, why we are so sure that can't get into our house etc.

Last night, he insisted I pulled the curtains in the kitchen while he ate some supper and even sat on the floor to be hidden by the kitchen island while I closed them.

When I was settling him last night/this morning he said "I hate going to sleep, hate it!" and that has really given me cause for concern.

I spoke to him about it this morning and he said as soon as he closes his eyes, he sees monsters and horrible things.
I'm going to speak to school today and just check what books they might be reading in class that I don't know about but any other tips on how to deal with this will be very gratefully received.

TIA
