7 week old never sleeps alone

My 7 week old has never slept at night in her crib. She always sleeps on me, right next to me or on dh. Until about 10 days ago, I couldn't put her down anywhere at all in the daytime either, but lately this has started to improve.

My question is when can I start to force the issue a little? How do I encourage her to sleep alone? I can't have her in with me much longer - I don't sleep properly and I am utterly exhausted.

Someone will be along to say 'it's perfectly normal' but that doesn't help when you're crawling the walls with fatigue. I'd suggest expanding on your daytime success. Get her used to sleeping in her crib during the day rather than anywhere else. That way it becomes a familiar place, she knows it's safe, and she knows you'll be there when she wakes up. Then gradually extend it to night-time. Good luck

Thanks Chil. I'm glad someone understands. It may well be normal, but I've got to the point where I cannot function properly and I have two other children to look after who, I feel, are missing out at the moment Sad
