Bedtime/ Wake time for a one year old

Hi everyone

I am thinking ahead (or stressing ahead more like) to when I go back to work.

I have to travel and won't be home until after 6 pm, so I hate the thought of a 7pm bedtime as I want to spend as much time with DD as possible. I would prefer 8 but don't want to do that if its too late for her. What does everyone think?

If it was 8 pm what time roughly would be wake up time? At the minute she is under 6 months so she is still sleeping downstairs any time from 7.30 until 10.00-10.30, a feed then bed then sleeping through to 6.30ish.

Thanks

Bed at 7pm. . . .and wake by 6am ?? Depends how much he/she sleeps during the day.
But having read your post properly, I reckon bed at 8pm then.
I has to be what enough sleep for little one but also what you want too.

They are all so different and need slightly different amounts of sleep.
I suggest a good nap in the day (2 hrs +) if babe is to hang on up to 8pm?

IME they choose their own bedtime and it is very hard to change that.

I would love DD to be up when I get in, but I think it is unfair to impose my wants onto her.

She goes to bed at 5pm, gets up at 5-6am. You can always have the mornings to play with her.

As you say you have over 6 months, which is a long time away so you can time to try and nudge her into the habit you want.

Vegasgirl, we are in this situation just now...my dd is almost 1 and I am starting back work soon. I want to eat with my dd at night and have some time with her so have made her evening meal and bedtime routine a little later. She now has dinner with us at 6pm, bath just before 7pm and has been in bed around 7.45/8pm. Previously she was in bed around 7/7.30pm. She has coped fine with this change. She has a snack mid afternoon to tide her over till teatime. My dd usually wakens at 6am.
