Is DS cold? Is that why he's stopped sleeping through?

My 16 week DS has gone through the night a couple of times (7-7) in the past 10 days. We dream feed at around 10.30. Although he's a noisy bugger - loads of whimpers, thrashing and finger sucking from 3-4.30ish, on those nights he's not woken up, just gone straight through.

Other nights, he doesn't really wake and cry for food EVER, just wakes and makes a bit more noise. I give him a tiny amount of formula and he hits the sack again.

The fact that he's not desperately hunger makes me not want to feed him then, but I wonder what else it is that is stopping him sleep through. Do you think he might get cold? I swaddle him in a swaddling blanket and tuck him into his cot in a circular blanket. He manages to get his fingers out the swaddle mid way through the night and the room temp does drop. Is he cold?

Otherwise any other thoughts why he's not just staying asleep? He's a good settler/resettler.

what is he wearing to bed and what is the temp of the nursery?

my dd used to wake up cold so i added more clothes and she slept much better.

The temperature is about 21, though it can drop to 19.5. I use a cotton swaddling blanket tight around him and one of those large Mothercare circular blankets (ones with holes in) double and tuck that in.

Sorry! You asked what he wears. A vest under a long sleeved/legged baby grow under the swaddle.

sounds like he's got enough layers, i use grobags though which is different clothing recommendations.

does he feel cold when he wakes?

or perhaps there is a draught coming in? it took me ages to realise there was a gap in the beam in our old house an dd was being wafted by an icy breeze.

What are the recommendations with grobags? We have those too. Maybe I'll try him in them. My understanding is that you're not to use blankets over those - but they never feel warm enough to me.

dds room is about 18degrees at night and i have her in a 2.5tog grobag with a long sleeved vest and a babygrow.

for a room about 20degrees it's a long sleeved vest under a 2.5tog grobag
