Can a swaddle be too tight?

I've just bought this a Kiddopotamus Swaddleme on the recommendation of a friend. It's the right one for my 15 week DS weight etc. But the swaddle itself seems really, really snug. (it has the pocket for the baby, the strips that go over and attach by velcro).

It worries me a bit. Can a swaddle be too tight and cause harm? My friend says the fabric stretches with them and they like it...but it still worries me a bit.

well it's supposed to be fairly tight to keep them from breaking out. but it's hard to tell if it's too tight without being able to see/feel the child

i think though that if it's concerning you then you shoudl;n't use it

I have one of these & love it. It has (finally) got my DS to sleep for a really good stretch. It did seem weird & very snug at first but it has truly helped all of us to start getting a good night's sleep! They are meant to be tight but you can adjust where you match up the velcro tabs to make it a bit looser if you want. I just bought the larger size for 15lbs + even though he's only about 13lbs because he was breaking out of the smaller size. Check out www.happiestbaby.com - this Dr. is a big advocate for swaddling so you can see how tightly he wraps them (he uses blankets but it's the same principle). But of course if you're concerned, don't use it :)
