my DD is up at 6am, back to bed at 9 for an hour or so, then has an afternoon nap for 1-2 hrs and then bedtime at 6.30pm 7ish..... i would love her to sleep in until 7am in the morn and have pondered p'u p'd (which worked for extending her sleep time before, but she has gradually worked it back until 6am again!) but with her having a full 12 hrs sleep, is that extra hour from 6am to 7am really important? or just me being selfish !

I'm sorry to say that I think that's the norm for a 9 month old

Hi, my 9.5m ds, has same sleep pattern! He doesnt always have the afternoon nap, but most days he does. Know what you mean about wanting an extra hour in bed though, Im hoping it will get better in time!

oh well, hopefully a longer layin will come with age.....i guess i should feel grateful she goes through the night ;)

Wow - that sounds good. My dd 9m also has same routine only she also has extra half hour to an hour around 5ish then up till last bottle about 9ish and in cot by 10-10.30pm but sleeps till 7.30ish (excluding teething moments). Not sure whether I'd prefer earlier mornings or later nights?

Can sympathise though that extra hour can make all the difference in mornings especially these dark horrible mornings.

She is having more than 12 hours sleep by my reckoning - according to your times she is having 13-14.5 hours. So the only thing I would think you could do to get that magic hour from 6 til 7 is to try and move her times back so she is napping at 10 am, slightly later in the afternoon and going to bed at 7.30. Still might not work. Didn't get either of mine going consistently til 7 until they dropped down to one day time nap I'm afraid.

god I wish my ds would sleep like that we have 30 mins at about 9.30 am and then 1hr 20 mins at 12.30 if we are v lucky - yesterday and today we have had 40 mins only. Bed at 6.30 pm (because he won't sleep longer at lunchtime).

startingtobehalloweenylover · 25/10/2005 19:45

ds sleeps from around 6.30/7pm ish until 6.45am, he has a bottle and goes straight back to bed until 8.30ish

he has a nap at 11iish and another nap at about 2.30pm

suss · 25/10/2005 19:47

oops should have finished that one! he sleeps til 6am or later (on and off at the mo teeth!) but we don't go into until 6.45am and he knows it we can hear him playing with his teddy in the cot!

katylou25 · 25/10/2005 20:06

My DS just 9 months wakes up bout 6.45 - get him up between 7 and 7.15 when his shouting and laughing at his teddy bears has reached an ear splitting level!!! Then has 45mins to an hour at 9oclock and then 1 hr - 1hr 30 mins after lunch and then in bed by 7.30 and sleeps thro - apart from when ill/teething.

startingtobehaloweenlover - thats interesting you give ds a bottle, i have wondered whether to do this with DD, she usually wakes up after a poo, and refuses point blank to be re-settled, maybe a bottle would settle her down again after changing her nappy.....i think i might try this 2moro!! fingers crossed...that extra hour would make the world of difference between me feeling like a zombie and a human ;)

We are going through this with DS who is 8 1/2 months. Wakes 6.10 ish..nap 9.30 for about half an hour...nap after lunch for anything between 1 hour 10 and 2 hours...bed by 7.15..asleep by 7.30. He very rarely sleeps until 7 and wakes up with huge poo every morning which doesn't help things. If he does wake early I change him and give him milk and then back to bed until 7..he doesn't go back to sleep but I don't want him thinking that 6.10 is getting up time!!
