9 month old hates cot- Alternatives?

I'm trying to get DS weaned and in his own bed but he hates the cot. We'll continue to try him with it in case it's just the fact that his food supply's further away but I was wondering, do any of you have your babies sleeping in places other than a cot?

I'm considering just having a mattress on the floor of his (baby-proofed) room but is that a bit pikey? Confused

Hmm, could work, but could also just prolong the problem.

I spent a few days helping my DS make friends with his cot, we played peep-o in it during the day, read books, had a pile-on with teddies, etc. I also started to sit him in it alone with books & toys for short periods while I hoovered upstairs or had a shower.

Worth a try maybe? Good luck, I know it's hard.

Do you think he really hates the cot or is he just protesting cos he's not in with you?
Tbh I would persevere as you don't want to be sleeping on his floor for the foreseeable future.
Really good idea from previous post about playing there in the day.
Maybe give him a blanket/muslin that you have shoved down your top so he has your comforting smell?

I reckon as the pp said, he just doesn't want to be away from you. 9 moths is a difficult age to do sleep training etc as babies have a developmental leap and separation anxiety can kick in.

I'd get him familiar with the cot in the day (we did this with DS) and take it slowly trying to transitioning him in. You can do this by putting him down in the cot at the start of the night and taking it from there (so back into your bed if he doesn't settle after waking up for a feed).
