23 months naps suddenly stopped

My son is now resisting naps suddenly. He used to go at 1pm for about 2 hours. Is this common? Or is it just the end of naps? Any advice very much appreciated

He's nearly 2. Goes to bed at 7.30 usually wakes at 4.30 and goes back til 6.30 after a quick breastfeed

I had this with my DD who is 21 months. She used to nap at 12 for 3 hours then suddenly stopped. I pushed her nap back to 1 and she is napping again. Is it worth trying 1.30?

Good luck.

Thank you!

Gosh so jealous of such long naps! But dd also dropped her (45min!) nap at about this time. What we do now is just have a 'rest' basically I put her in the cot with some toys and books she can get at and we have quiet time...(mommy takes a nap) and she plays quietly after a little self settling. Sometimes when I go in there again she's asleep, sometimes she's still playing.
(She goes to bed typically at 8 and sleeps until 7)

Often times they start needing a little less sleep (I am told) at this time of their lives unless they have very active days)

Thanks bebe, think I will do the 'rest' period myself today and see what happens

If anyone has any experience of stopping the 4.30 am waking that woudl be useful too (not asking for much!) and getting him to stop breastfeeding while we're at it...

I just offered a sippy cup of cow's milk before the last bf (we were down to just 1 before bed) and then offered the breast...then I started offering the cup, but not giving the breast unless she specifically asked... in the end she just wanted the sippy cup, then I topped up the milk in the cup when I went to bed at night and placed it in the corner of the bed, she started finding it herself and taking the milk if she needed it... if not it would still be there in the morning.

You might find these pages useful:

I'm always recommending them cos I use them all the time! I'm not involved in the company honest. Although as my baby is still awake at 9pm tonight maybe I should be reading them.

My DS stopped napping at about 22 months, then started again about 6 weeks later.

Thanks all bebe will try tonight. Spoke to a few mums today and it seems it's a key age for naps to go to pot then sort themselves out a few weeks later.
