7wo doesn't settle after 2am-ish feed

Hello all,
any suggestions for the following gratefully received and will definitely be tried:

7 WO DD settles fairly well after both the 7.30pm bedtime routine of bath and feed, and the 11pm feed (which we wake her for).

The 2/3am ish feed happens when she wakes up hungry (perhaps this is where we're going wrong?) and she doesn't settle at all/sleeps in 40 minute blocks for the rest of the night.

May be a factor?: DH gives DD either the 11pm or 2am feed of expressed milk.

Anyone experienced this and have any ideas how DD can be settled back to sleep?

Thanks all

Does she have a good feed at 11pm? I used to wake DD at 10pm and keep her awake for an hour - nappy change first to make sure she was wide awake to feed more. She slept through from 7 weeks till about 11pm to 7am. They're all different though Smile

Mine was exactly the same! He's now 14 weeks old and is much better at going straight back to sleep but I can't get him to sleep through the night! I just kept the lights off and let him fall asleep on me and then put him back down as soon as he was asleep. He goes to sleep really well now... just wish he didn't need so many feeds (12, 4 and 6)!

my 7 week old is exactly the same and a few of my friends' children are too. He sleeps brilliantly at 7.30pm and 11pm but after 3am he doesn't settle at all well. He makes disturbing snorting and squealing noises in his sleep after then and wakes for his dummy often, which he never does earlier.

I think it's just that then is lighter sleep? I'm just hoping it will pass soon ... at the moment he feeds at 3am and I often don't get to sleep till 6 what with all his grunting!

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. After a big bottle feed at 10pm so we knew exactly how much she'd had - suggested by BringOnTheGoat - the feed at 2am was followed by a few bursts of 1 hour / 30 mins of sleep - so that is a definite improvement.
Onwards and upwards.
Have a good day everyone.

My 12 week old dd is just like this, I tried swaddling her last night and it improved our night, not dramatically but enough for me to feel almost normal today - she's random enough in her patterns for me to wonder if she'd have had a better night either way but will persist and see.

Have to say as time passes sleep usually just improves anyway - especially at 6 months when they start to eat (which probably seems bloody ages away and lots of sleepless nights now) - everything's changes so quickly when they are tiny.

Agree with IZPIE about swaddling - DD hated being swaddled when I tried with a normal blanket - but I persisted and once I got her in to her special swaddle blanket she slept much better.
