8 month old and 3 year old both waking - help!

I am at the end of my tether and very miserable. 8 month old is still waking in the night and having a bottle but not sure she really needs it although she screams in what I think is hunger. I was bf her until she weaned but didn't think she would still be needing milk in the night after weaning as dc1 slept through when he started solids. That will teach me. Anyway, I've tried giving her water, which she takes but then screams even louder, tried rocking her back to sleep which sometimes works but she wakes an hour later and finally, have tried leaving her to cry but last about 5 minutes as she seems to be genuinely hungry.

But she is on 98th centile for weight and eating three pretty good portions of food a day, plus 3 or 4 bottles. We are still feeding her at 10pm - should i just drop this feed as she is feeding in the night anyway or will she then wake up twice?

3 year old has had disturbed sleep ever since his sister arrived, it is totally random though but he shouts for about two hours some nights. We mostly ignore or go and tuck him in and don't speak to him but this has been going on for months.

We are all exhausted. It's worse than a newborn as they are sometimes awake for 2 hours between 2 and 4am.

Just read cc thread. Is 8 months too young to try this? Don't really feel happy doing it if she might be hungry?
Anyone?
