When do we get a duvet?

Quick question - when did you change your dc from a sleeping bag to a duvet? Should we wait until he is ready for a big bed or start with a duvet in his cot so it is not such a big change when he goes into a bed? Thanks!

I was thinking the same thing!! My DS will nap for 2-3 hours in our bed with me and a warm duvet and sleeps quite well in his own bed with a blanket but I often thinks he gets cold! How old is your DS? Mine is nearly 7 months. :)

Hi IMissSleep, mine is 15 months. I have the big sleeping bags which he is happy in for the moment but my DH was asking when we would be changing and I have no idea!

My DS was in the biggest sleeping bags and his cot until he was nearly 3 ! He could undo himself in the mornings and get out of the cot (drop side left down) but he wasn't huge (still isn't) and the sleeping bag kept him warm and stayed with him even when he was upside down, sideways etc in the cot !

He's now 7 and still cannot stay the right way up in his bed - but now gets cold and wakes up and has to readjust his bedding.

I'd say don't change until you have to !

ds was in a grobag till he was 2 1/2 and he went into a big bed.

DD is 2.7yrs and still in cot and GroBag because she's still small. When she moves to a big bed (can't see this happening before 3, judging her petiteness and the fact she's too timid to try even standing up in her cot! let alone climbing out of it) then I'll use GroBag bedding which zips up at the side.

put DD in duvet in cot at 23 mths. Ummed and aahed for ages over when to do it and she was absolutely fine though occassionally wakes up cold and have to pull it over her..
