Side sleeping while swaddled??

Dear Mums,
I am new to this forum but would be grateful for some advice please! My 4 month old baby has recently started having real difficulties sleeping (which I know is really not unusual!) having woken up every 20 mins last night for about 4 hours...
I have just put him down for a nap and he started fussing, but when I went to pat him on his back rolling him over on his side, he settled almost instantly! He has now been asleep for 90 mins (longest morning nap ever in his cot!) but I am worried about him being on his side while swaddled.
Any thoughts/suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks. Kate

I'm not an expert but 4 months seems old to still be swaddling and might be a reason for his poor sleeping.

Let him be free and lie him on his side. You'll be amazed.

I've been wondering this too - my 5 month old sleeps best when swaddled and have recently discovered that she settles much quicker if put on her side. I am worried about her rolling on to her front and getting stuck cos her arms are tucked in. Might need to try unwrapping her and see how we get on.
