hi all
we're doing the jay gordon sleep technique with my 15 month old DD - we cosleep. we've been doing it for a coujple of months now. before we started, she was feeding back to sleep every 45 mins to hour after going to bed. Now we don't feed between bedtime and 3 or 4 am. and according to the technique, she should start sleeping for that non-feeding period... except it's not quite happening. She sleeps for up to 3.5 hours (v good for us) before waking and i shush and put my hand on her and after a variable amount of crying (1 min to 10 mins usually) she goes off again. She often needs me right there to get to sleep again (arm on her, her feet against my legs, and she pinches my neck).. I think this is the problem. we're trying to not be so close for her to sleep but she keeps climbing on me or snuggling up to me if i'm too far away.

Wondering if we need to start using a cot, because me being there is distracting for her .. or to have a hard night or two by not allowing her to be close when falling asleep.

Has anyone had a similar situation with this technique ? Any advice welcome..

Thank you v much

It will get easier, but I would try comforting her almost back to sleep, not totally, ie gradual withdrawal.

We did this but were not co-sleeping so I would leave DS before he was back to sleep but on his way there.

That's great, thank you. Did it take a while for you too ? I tried comforting her nearly back to sleep last night which DD didn't like at all.. guess it will take a little while. and will be worth it !
Any one else have similar expereinces ?
