Early waking times/4 month reg?

My baby is just over 18 weeks and has been in the 4 month regression for about 2 weeks feeding loads with increased night wakings. He has also gone from sleeping his big lot of sleep post midnight (up to 12 weeks) to now wanting to sleep around 6.30pm/7pm and starts waking around 11pm, then 1am, 3am and usually wide awake 5am. I read that this 4 month thing ends around 20 weeks. What I want to know is did anyone's babies wake later afterwards? I've tried putting him down later than 7pm, he still wakes at 5am, rocking him etc
The numerous night wake ups will hopefully end one day but these 5am's are killing me and dp, I can't just get used to them and become an early riser. He tends to sleep again around 7.30am which probably contributes to the cycle.

Any encouragement that this will change or tips welcome.
