How do I manage the day with nap times changing?

My 8 and half month ds has up until last week been a real cat napper - 3 naps a day of about 45 minutes. This meant that by 10.30 after first nap we could head out if needed to do chores, meet friends etc, return in time for lunch and next nap. Also meant time to walk dogs etc in afternoon before next nap.

Suddenly he seems to have changed and several times has done 2 longer naps - hour and half to 2 hours, meaning often not awake til half 11, so no time to do anything before lunch and only short time in afternoon.

I know this is likely to change again in the future and to be honest for a long time have wished for longer naps, but just wonder how to fit everything in again now!!!

Maybe try putting him down for first nap about 9.15 (basing this on waking time of 7). Sleep for 45 mins max - wake if necessary. Then down again for 2 hours at 12.15/12.30 this is what my 2 have done and does allow for some stuff to be done in afternoon.
