I really don't want to get into the merits of using a routine, but we have had a loose one for the past couple of months and it was working really well, but isn't any more. It was;

7-7.30am - up and bottle at 7.30 (she has started taking about 60- 80 ml at this feed)

8.30ish - feed back to sleep (another 150ml approx). Naps for about 45 - 1.5 hours

10.30 - feed (she barely wants this anymore)

11.30ish - 12.30ish - takes a wee 15-30 mins in pram if out and about

12.30 - feed (started taking a lot at this feed, sometimes onto second bottle)

1 - 3 - nap

3.30ish - feed (again, not that interested in it)

4.30 - 5.30ish - normally out for walk and she takes 30 min in pram

5.30 - feed

6.30 - bath

6.45ish - bottle and bed

through to the next morning (she is starting to wake little earlier too sometimes)

Should I be feeding her less and if so, roughly how often? Any loose routines you have would be interesting to see. my DD can't really do more than 2 hours without sleep

thanks

I was feeding the same as you and eventually cut out the 8:30 feed and the 5:30 feed, he just didn't need it and I was wasting so much milk. He now finishes all his bottle - usually 5 oz. I also started him on solids at 4 months. Milk just wasn't enough, I breast fed till he was 5 months (now 6) and the routine is now set:
7am wake up - 5 oz bottle
7:30am breakfast - usually chicken and veg (wont eat porridge first thing!)
8:30am 1 hour nap
10am 5oz
1:30pm lunch with 3-4oz and 2 hour nap
4pm small bottle
5:30 dinner
6:30 bath
7pm bottle 5-6oz and bed.
He will wake at 11pm and 5am for another bottle too.
It was been this way since he was 4 months and he started solid food. My boy will only go 2-3 hours without sleep during the day, but sometimes will nap again only 30 mins after his long nap!! It sounds like you have a good routine already, and she's sleeping well so thats a bonus!!

At that stage DS would wake around 6, then he would have a bottle, 260ml, not sure about oz. Basically after that he would sleep 2.5 hours after he woke up from sleeping for an unpredictable amount of time, and have a bottle every 4 hours until bathtime at 6, then bottle, then bed.

The routines all started changing when he started eating and now the only reliable thing is wake up at 6 and the first nap around 9. Mealtimes are reasonably fixed but apart from that he sleeps relatively unpredictably through the day at the moment. Routines are in constant flux as he develops and changes so I'm waiting for a more predictable one to emerge at the moment.

My DS is the same age and we have a routine that seems to be working for us. He does drink a lot of milk but is a big boy (91st centile)..

6.45/7am - up
7.30am - 7oz milk
9am - sleep for 45 mins
11am - 7oz milk (going to start baby rice here)
12-2pm - sleep
3pm - 7oz milk
4pm - naps on and off in car on school run.
6pm - bath
6.30pm - 11oz milk
7pm - bed

Having just looked at that, it is a lot of milk but it works for us at the moment.
