Help - DD wakes for 2 hours some nights

My DD aged 2.9 has started to wake up during the night, its not every night, but is usually between 1am and 2pm and then she can be awake for up to 2 hours. Have tried resettling her and then just leaving her to cry, have tried sitting with her until she falls back to sleep, but nothing works, its like she is just not tired and only goes back to sleep when she is ready. Not sure what else to try now, any help? Thanks

That happens with my DS (8 months) as well. He can be awake for more than 3 hours at times and nothing will get him off to sleep again. To me it seems like a confusion between day and night- he normally wants to play or feeds and thrashes around, pulling off the breast and crying.

It sounds like DD self settles normally? Perhaps you need to give her some extra help and rock her a little? I go through my repertoire of boring songs whilst sitting on an exercise ball, bouncing bub in my arms. It works most times!
