2.5 yo ds spoilt by grandma

A friend of mine from Australia was recently on holidays here in Germany where for 7 weeks her ds1 was spoilt by grandma. My friend writes:

DS1 has been a little more of a handful after being spoilt for 7 weeks and
getting everything his way. His Oma use to stay with him at night and now
he won't go to bed on his own. He wakes up in the middle of the night and
insists that we stay on the couch in his room. I'm not sure how to change
this routine... any clues?

Any advice gratefully received.

I can sympathise. My parents have ds to stay overnight once every couple of weeks. They give him chocolate milk at bedtime, they dont enforce teethbrushing, he eats tons of biscuits and basically gets to do what he wants. It has caused problems, he always gave me a hard time after he had stayed there and it took a day or two to settle him down again. However, he is 3.4 now and seems to accept that we do things differently at home now and though he enjoys being spoilt rotten, he adapts back to life with us very easily. How old is your friends son?
