DS was awake 5 times last night and i fed him each time. He's a 98th percentiler and feeds every couple of hours in the day.

my question is, how do i know whether he's waking from hunger or he just needs resettling? DP did try and resettle after one of the wakings but to no avail.

I know this age is growth spurt age, and i'm happy to feed at night, but i dont want feeding to sleep to what DS relies on to go back to sleep. He doesnt feed to sleep during the day.

I'd try settling. If it doesn't work, feed him.

At 12 weeks I would just feed.

You aren't going to be starting bad habits or anything, he is too little for that. In the interests of being awake for the shortest possible time, just feed and then go back to sleep.

Feed.

I think feed at this age, unless he's only sucking a couple of times and dropping off. Ds2 is 14 weeks and I just feed him and he always has a good feed. I've had quite a few nights in the last 2 weeks where it's been every 2 hours Confused, last night was back to one feed, thank goodness, fingers crossed for tonight! I know what you mean about feeding to sleep, unless it's a really bad night I put him back in cot after while he's still awake.
