Baby lying awake at night

My 20 week old DD sometimes lies in her bed at night (middle of night and early morning) awake, just playing with her hands and warbling a wee bit. I just leave her be and don't touch/talk to her as I don't think she needs me. She gets herself back to sleep no problems. But my MIL looked a bit shocked when I said this. I shouldn't attend to her when she doesn't really me should I?

No leave her :) mine does this too, chats to himself and waves his arms about. He's completely happy and often goes back to sleep on his own. I only do anything when he appears to be hungry or getting distressed. I think it's part of the famous 4mnth sleep regression.

Only downside is I can't sleep through it!

Me neither, but DH snores through it all!

defo do not intervene - if your baby can settle herself back to sleep that is something you do not want to mess with IMHO!

self-settling! the holy grail! definitely leave her to it.
can she teach mine please?

It totally bamboozles me that she can do this. I am rather impressed (and surprised) I must admit. I am sure it will all go tits up.
