Before I get flamed Grin I do read to my child, but I think he would go to sleep better if he had a "story tape" on rather than his usual lullabies or white noise.
I'm struggling to find anything, does anyone use something like this or is it too stimulating?
We have a good routine of bath, milk and stories, teeth, into cot then me singing old macdonald on repeat for the next half an hour at least and just wondered if a story would help.

How old is he?

Do you have an iPod/iPhone/iPad? I've seen there are apps for some kids' books (mostly American) where you can record the voice of a loved one, yourself or someone else, reading the story. Was thinking of doing this for DD so that DH can "read" her a bedtime story even when he's working late or away with work.

I can't answer whether or not this is too stimulating, really depends on his age. My DD is 2.5 and tends to wait until I've finished reading to her before she drops off, unless she is really zonked!

record yourself reading stories.
then you can read all his favs.
in a dull-go-to-sleep voice.

Storynory - can't be arsed to do links

They have loads and loads of downloadable stories - I usually burn a few at a time onto a CD for dd

utterly brill. And free.

Sorry should have said he's 2 at the end of March. He has an ipod and speakers in his room Hmm so no probs to download (well not for DH, he deals with these sorts of things) Good idea to record my own voice except not at the moment as I have a stinking cold!
