I have no idea what's going on...

True to the adage, if you think things are going well, you have no idea what's going on, I think I have no idea.

My first DD was born 12 days ago by planned c-section, and today is her due date. My pregnancy was easy and my recovery from the c-section very fast. She had a stinking cold the past four days, which put a kibosh on breast feeding, as the effort seemed to choke her as she couldn't breathe through her nose, and because she was dehydrating with just my breast milk and not putting on weight (she was a small baby anyway), I've supplemented my milk with formula. She is now over the worst of the cold and gaining weight.. There have been no problems with her digestion and she produces enough wet and dirty nappies. We're not great at breast feeding (never were), but I'm expressing enough milk that the ratio is about 2:1 my milk:formula so I'm not killing myself with guilt over not breast feeding her directly, although I did rather enjoy doing it, bottle feeding is so much easier.

I've slept in the same room as her, often she sleeps with me as this guarantees that I'll be able to head her off at the pass before she starts crying, as I have a husband and step-children to consider. She wakes in the night to feed and when she wakes she is alert, calm and watchful. We don't have a strict routine, but she's gaining weight and seems pretty contented.

I've read loads of expert opinion, and it all advises that I should be having more trouble than this. I'm very concerned that I'm doing something wrong. I'm not exhausted all the time, despite being awake with her for at least 2 hours during the night, and I have time to catch up with housework etc during the day. Am I missing stuff out, should I worry that she's not demanding?

I think you'll get a lot of Envy faces!! You sound like you are doing great and your DD is thriving so don't stress.... it'll all change in a few weeks or so (well, hopefully not but ykwim) and you'll be kicking yourself for asking this. Grin
