Dummy for sleep?

Just a
Quick question for those who use/used a dummy to get their little ones to sleep.

Did you find this a hard habit to break? And at what age did you try to break it?

My ds who is 8 months has started crying at night until I give him his dummy. Previously he went down happily without it. He does sleep through so am just wondering if I am making a rod for my own back giving it to him or whether I shouldn't worry and he will grow out of it at about age 2ish.

Thanks

So he sleeps through...pick your battles, have the dummy fairy visit in a year or so and for now just enjoy a rest.

My 7 month old is doing the same. I wouldn't care if he slept through but he doesn't now. He used to go to sleep without the dummy and sleep through. Now he cries for the dummy to go to sleep at the start of the night and if he wakes doesn't self settle but then cries for me until I come and put the dummy in. I'm not sure whether its definitely dummy related as in the night even with it he cries when I leave the room unless he is almost asleep. I think I am going to take it off him but I am scared to do it as I need sleep so much.

My DS had a night-time dummy and comfort-blanket for years! In every other respect he was/is a very independent & confident child and he finally gave it up aged about 4 when we went on holiday and I told him 'the hotel wouldn't allow it and did he think he could manage without it now?....' I agree. Enjoy the peace and quiet :)

Tonight again he kicked off for a dummy, i just don't get it he used to go down fine without one!

Yes i think you are right maybe just be thankful i am getting a full's night sleep.

i just worked so hard to break him from the habit of sucking to sleep on my breast and now it feels like he is reverting back.
