Tonight we did the CC thing - for the fifth night. DD is nearly 2 (later this month).
I read to her in her cot for the first time, she's not been into me reading her stories, I've tended to cuddle her and tell her tales of our old cats, and made up Muppet tales.
Anyway it took a while but she finally paid attention to the story and calmed down (Percy Parkeeper - Cross Rabbit - if you are interested)
I told it to her twice then told her that she needed to sleep and made a thing of the nice things she likes in the morning - such as having her 'Tig Tig' (she has a boiled egg in a Tigger eggcup for breakfast which she loves). I told her this would all happen sooner if she went to sleep.
Anyway she did still cry when I left room but it lasted 14 minutes, I went in after 5 mintues and then said to myself I would wait 10 if I could - I changed the bed linen and dusted our bedroom (non noisy housework) and by the time I'd finished, 9 minutes, she'd stopped.
I'm going to keep doing this. I think I made her bedtime nice but firm this evening.
Am sending love and light to those sleep deprived parents out there
