10 month old dropping down to one nap?

is it possible that my DD who has just turned 10 months is dropping to one nap? She will not go down before 10.30am regardless of when she woke up, then sleeps for 30 mins, and goes down for another 30 mins - an hour at 2.30 which is too late really as it means she's not tired enough at bedtime. This has been since just before xmas.

Today she woke at 7.30 for the day (multiple night wakings), wouldnt go down at 10 or 10.30, so Ive just given her lunch and she fell asleep in my arms as I brought her upstairs!(11.45) Will have to see how long she sleeps for.

When did your DC drop to one nap? what did you do in this transition phase - two 30 min naps are not enough, and sleeping after 3pm isnt good. Thanks!

Oh crap. Only 45 mins. She's never going to get to bed time!
looks like I'm doing some walking at 2!!

My 10 month old DD is exactly the same - started dropping her morning nap about 3 weeks ago. She gets awfully cranky at about 10:30/11am, but I find that letting her cram her face with rice cakes helps!

She does sleep for 2 hours at lunch mostly though - think it's because we're starting nursery now and all the playing is tiring her out. Is there anything you can do to exhaust her so she sleeps longer? Maybe some crazy playtime before bed will help.

I've got a nap denier too! It's a bleedin' nightmare (no pun intended).

I think 10 months old is to young to be on one nap a day. My boy tried this trick and I almost switched him, but he's now 13 months and still needs two!

I've lost patience with nap time I'm afraid and I've gone badass on him, because I've learned that the more he sleeps during the day, the better he sleeps at night (and to be fair, he sleeps straight through every night 7-7). Babies are weird.

I used to give up and take him out in the pram instead (out like a light!), but the weather's so vile I don't do that any more. Big cuddle, sleeping bag on and protesting or not, into the cot he goes.

I feel like a total witch for doing it mind, but the alternative is a cranky baby who won't sleep properly at all.

In theory you should put a ten month old down twice - first time 2 hours after waking, second time 3 hours after waking. So for a 7 am wake up, the baby should go down again at 9 for an hour, then after lunch for another hour at least. That's the general idea anyway...
