How do you get a baby to nap?

DS is 21 weeks. He's sleeping really badly at night (probably 4-month sleep regression) and although he usually goes to bed with no trouble in the evening, we can't get him to settle for a daytime nap. He'll sleep in the pushchair or the car seat if we're out, but if we're at home he just cries to be picked up. Anyone have any tips? He's obviously getting tired during the day, but just won't go to sleep!

I rock him to sleep at home, try to put him down sleepy but not quite asleep but don't always manage it! Often he falls asleep during a feed and I put him in his cot.

Well with DS1 I took him out for a drive. Every day for two and a half years! Cos a fortune. But it worked. DS2 naps like an angel compared to him. Pop him in cot. Stick a dummy in. Sometimes have to go back in four or five times to lie him down again but eventually after a bit of screaming he gets the idea. I make sure its as dark as possible and sometimes put teething gel on his dummy which I expect is a no-no but I dont care. He never goes down hungry or wet and I put music on. Sorry not much help there...

Pick him up then. Mine all fed to sleep until they weaned and then were cuddled to sleep.

DS often feeds to sleep during the day, but as soon as I put him down he cries! Even if I don't put him down, he usually wakes up pretty quickly. He used to sleep happily on DH but that's pretty much stopped now.
