Coffee keeping baby awake??

Does anyone think that drinking coffee in the evening can keep a breastfed baby awake?? I was wondering as the 2x I've done it my baby has been unable to sleep! Is that just coincidence or should I avoid the coffee??

I'm not sure how long it takes the caffeine to get through to your milk. IMO it's unlikely that as you're drinking it, so's your baby.

I drank gallons of coffee throughout both pregnancies and beyond - at all hours of the day - and both babies slept beautifully. But they may just be me!

I just read on the Laleche website that apparently caffeine can affect the baby. I drank coffee (freshly ground) at about 5pm and bubs was wide awake and totally alert from 10 til nearly 1. Poor thing was really trying to go back to sleep, like he knew he should, but couldn't. It definitely did happen once before too.
I suppose it depends on the baby too, Purpleturtle.
I'm going to avoid drinking it late from now on!
