Hi all I have an 8 week old DD and she sleeps in a moses basket next to my bed. When she wakes between 5-6 am i BF her but she is difficult to settle at that time so i lay her down next to me and she sleeps. My worry is I smoke around 8 cigarettes a day and i understand that smokers should not co-sleep with their babies. She is in bed with me until we get up around 8am. Also could someone tell me why smokers shouldnt co sleep? I do not smoke in the house let alone the bedroom and i always have an extra layer on that i remove when i have been outside for a cigarette.

I saw a thing on tv a few months ago that said as a smoker you retain all the harmful stuff on your breath for hours after your last cigarette, so maybe it's something to do with that? Personally I'm just paranoid about co-sleeping because I toss and turn a lot in my sleep an would probably roll over onto DS! Sorry I'm not much help! Xxx
