Morning MumNetters...OP here! Posted it last night, went for a bath and returned this morning to fits of giggles. Talk about a can of worms...I haven't laughed that hard in a few days, so I thank you all!!!!

I like to think I'm hugely organized but truth be told, I'm not. Also not good on lack of sleep and being stressed...mmmm why am I having a baby again...!!! Xmas Grin

I'm one who likes to read the instructions so to speak and then throw them away...!

Penelope Leach and Baby Whisperer...I'll check them out. But most of all, I'll listen to my baby after all it's MINE and I'll do what I dam well want!!! Ohhhh errrrr Xmas Shock

If you are a very routine-oriented person and you have a fairly routine-oriented baby, then I suspect she works just fine (although her breastfeeding advice is pretty crap) and you will be fairly happy following her advice. If you aren't a routine-oriented person then you won't be happy doing it, and if your baby is not a routine-oriented baby then your baby won't be happy doing it and will make sure that you are not happy either...

The book was just so prescriptive that I knew Gina and I were never going to be best buddies.

I would agree to read the book and then put it to one side. I tried to stick to it religusly and it drove me up the wall, but I'm glad I read the book as I felt like I at least had some idea of what to do with a baby.

Whether or not you like GF has quite a lot to do with whether or not your baby naturally has feed/sleep patterns that fit with her routines. If her routine for a 4 month old said "feed every 2.5 hours and put them down for a nap between 10-11 and 2-4" I'd think it was brilliant Grin But it's actually something like "feed every 4 hours and nap 9-9.30 and 12-2". There's absolutely no way my ds would manage that, though some babies would be very content on that routine.

I'm a bit of a control freak, and do love my sleep, so I have to admit I was initially very drawn to the Gina camp. But as a couple of people have already mentioned, I ended up being a Baby Whisperer girl - it let me feel like I had some kind of plan without feeling like I was running an army boot camp!
At the end of the day it's about what works for you and your little one - all the best x
