12mo DS now started crying, not sleeping

Since 4 months old, my DS has had bath and bed, and self soothed, and for the last 6 months, chattered to himself for 10 mins-ish and then gone to sleep. Fine. Brilliant.
Now since he's turned one, everynight he's crying and upset and not wanting to go to sleep.

My gut feel is that it's because he's just starting to realise that actually he wants to stay up and play and that Mummy and daddy haven't gone to bed yet. Or am I assigning thoughts/feelings that they don't have at one year old? Could it be something else??!

Thanks!

Can he stand up yet or start to climb out of the cot? Sorry, my memory of that age is pretty rusty. My first son was a dream sleeper until he figured out that he didn't have to go to sleep when he was put to bed, he could stand up and try to climb out.

Sounds like the 13 month sleep regression - starts around 12 months, before the developmental spurt at around 55 weeks.

*mama2alex" yes he can stand, but not very well when he's zipped in his gro-bag (thank goodness!) He's just laying on his back crying and getting worked up.

AngelDog never heard of that - thank you for the links!!! V interesting!
