Has anyone experienced a 10 day holiday with a one year old sharing your room and getting used to seeing you as they fall asleep. Then when you got home absolute hysterics as they have to fall asleep on their own - I am doing so now. As my nickname shows i am extremely strict and this is the second night I have left her to cry herself to sleep, it took 90mins!! I went in once it had gone quiet and she had fallen asleep standing up. Please someone tell me this is a common problem and will get better. It didn't happen with my first daughter!!!

Strict - no experience of this, but sympathies for you. I hope tonight is easier. IME 1-yr-old is pretty good for sleep-training, and if she's been a good sleeper before, will soon slip back into her old good habits. I'm sure she can't keep up 90mins crying for many nights, hope not for your sake - was she really tired today?
