closing the co-sleeper cot "gap"

Hello!

We hacked a gliding crib 9it no longer glides!) to add a co-sleeping space to our mattress (which is already on the floor), but I'm wondering what people do to close the gap between the cot mattress and the bed?

I've used a towel for tonight, but it's not ideal (I think it will shift). The mattress is only a centimetre or so higher than our bed.

Baby in question is 6 weeks old. :)

Ive used a rolled up cot-size duvet. Tbh we didnt put anything in the gap until he was rolling over and moving around, then i worried about him getting limbs/his head stuck!

I pushed the cotmattress over the gap and then filled the gap at the side of the cot, iyswim? I started off with towels, but after a while got fed up and ordered a piece of mattress-grade foam cut to fit the space exactly, which worked brilliantly.

These are the people I used: twfoam.co.uk/ - arrived quickly and was just the size I'd ordered.

Thanks! The only reason I'm closing the gap now is so I can lay partly in the crib myself. :)

I have moved the mattress to cover the gap and put a towel down on the far side. Love the foam option too!
