Any advice for adjusting DS's sleep?

Sorry this is long but I wanted to give you a full picture?.

DS (20 months) was sleeping from 7pm to 6am, and having about 1.5 hours nap in the afternoon (this was sometimes longer if he?d had a restless night or a busy morning ? eg. teething x swimming = 3 hours nap!).

Anyway, when the clocks changed he started getting up at 5am or even earlier. We?ve kept his bedtime the same in the hopes he?d adjust but no joy. Anyway this weekend my PIL were round for firework night and it all went belly up and actually improved things for a couple of days?.

Friday:
Up at 5am
Nap 3.30-4.30pm
Bedtime 9pm

Saturday:
Up at 7.30am (bliss!)
Nap 4.30-5pm
Bedtime: 9pm

Sunday:
Up at 6.30am
Nap 11.45-3pm (v. busy morning!!)
Bedtime 8pm

Monday
Up at 5.45am
Nap 1-3pm (ish ? at nursery)
Bedtime 6.45pm (he was exhausted)

Tuesday
Up at 4.30am (poor DH)

Basically I?m trying to work out if he needs a later bedtime or a shorter nap (or both?). I don?t think he?s quite ready to do away with a daytime nap altogether. But whatever we?re doing at the moment is cocking things up because he?s up so early and then catching up at naptime.

Any thoughts from the sleep gurus out there??

I actually find the later mine go to bed the worse they sleep. It doesn't affect their wake up time believe it or not, they'd still wake early. I wake them by 7am if the whole day routine goes to pot.

The nap should be about lunchtime I would say and no more than 2 hrs and I would put him to bed 7pm latest and see how things go after a few days personally.

I found this book very helpful, it's very thorough.

The clock change does not help, it took my 2 DCs 4 days to adjust to the clock change, I had to put them to bed earlier for a few days and slowly move it by 10/ 15 mins everyday.
