3 year old dd waking every night

Since dd2 has been born (6weeks ago) dd1 has woken up every night between 11&2am.

She's not being woken by the baby. She is crying for her teddy or blanket to be put back on. Often she's not even properly awake. Sometimes she falls out of bed. Could this be to do with the new baby? How do we get her to stop? Our nights are disrupted enough with the baby!

Sounds similar to our 3yo DS - our DD is 4mo. I think he has lighter periods of sleep and picks up on slight changes around the flat eg in light or sound, which wakes him out of that sleep. I also think he's got a lot going on developmentally that's making his brain extra active - he's started having nightmares (about buses?!). I've changed his duvet to make sure he's warm enough, just in case that was the reason, and other than that all we can do is go to him, reassure him and give him his teddy to cuddle. Luckily he generally settles fairly quickly.

Sympathies though! I now have the problem of DD waking up overnight and not wanting to go back to sleep...

Thanks for the reply. She does sometimes complain of bad dreams. There doesn't seem to be a consistent reason for her waking though.

We had the same.DD (2.6) has woken up frequently since DS (5 months) was born asking for a drink or whatever. And she does in her sleep too.it must be because of the new baby and being a bit unsettled.
We bought DD a lumilove nightlight and left a drink with her in case she wakes in the night. She has got better in the last few weeks so hopefully it'll be the same for you too.
