To bother with a dreamfeed

Hello - DS has started waking for his DF and i'm not sure if it interupts his sleep and if he would sleep better throughout the night without it - anyone have any experience?

Basically he is 11 weeks old and still feeds every 3 hours round the clock, he often only takes an ounce of two at night so i'm sure it's habitual - would like to drop a night feed if at all possible!

well we tried DF with DD for 4/5 nights and decided it woke her up too much, as she would totally wake up about 30 mins after... its not for every baby, maybe try not giving it and see??

We ditched it after trying for about a week - it just didn't suit us. DS slept from 7-7 from 16weeks (fed at 6pm, then bath, bed) so it clearly wasn't needed!

He was on 3hrly feeds until about 10-12wks though, just suddenly stretched out at night!

Dreamfeeds don't work for all babies although I have done it with both of mine.I dropped it at 5 months with DD and DS is now that age but I'm too scared to drop it!

Why don't you not bother with it for a week and see how it goes. Then try it for a week and see if it helps him do a longer stretch so you can ditch the feed in the early hours (3ish or whenever it is).

I did it for 2 nights woke DD up too much so didn't bother after that and she didn't wake looking for it. Was better all round in the end as we didn't have to wean her off it at a later stage

All it did for us was add an extra feed to the night. DH is convinced it made his sleeping worse.
