Unsettled sleeping when we're away overnight

Hi there. I'm lucky enough to have twins who are generally pretty good sleepers (apart from teething and illness) but one problem that keeps surfacing is when we sleep over at friends or go away on a holiday, my little girl will literally wake evey hour. Of course, at home, i have the option of leaving her to cry (once I've ruled out nappy change, temperature etc) but at friends' I don't feel like I can allow her to wake the whole household.
Not really looking for a solution but wondered if this is a common problem? She is 8 months old. And if so, when do they tend to get more immune to the change of environment.
THanks for any thoughts x

Hi Joy,

What's your travel cot like? Are you sure it's comfortable? We bought an extra mattress for ours and DD now sleeps much better when we are away. We also try and make it as close as possible to the home environment - same sheets, same soft toys. And we have a travel black out blind that attaches to any window and blocks out all light, as we also have black out blinds at home. Just some thoughts.

both of mine were/are restless buggers when away. same routine/sheets/blankets/lightshow thingie do help but ds (20 months) will normally end up in bed with me, it then takes a week or so to get back to normal at home. dd was 3 before it stopped - but need to really knacker her out!

thanks so much ladies. do you know, i do have proper matresses for that exact reason but was lazy and didnt take it with me last time, so will be sure not to make that mistake again. i will akso take same sheets and toys. ive always avoided the light show because im scared it will wake her up even more. maybe its worth a try tho. the babies are staying at the grandparents tonight so we'll see how we get on. thks again x
