clocks changing: how do you cope?

I've been pushing DD's meals, naps and bedtimes a bit later every few days in anticipation of the clocks changing at the end of the month. We've taken it very gently, about 10 minutes every few days. She's adjusting well to the new nap time and bedtime but she still wakes at the same time each morning, so is getting less sleep overall.

Any advice on how to encourage little ones (she's 15 months old) to sleep longer in the mornings? Will this just settle of its own accord as she gets used to the time shift or will I have to cope with an early riser during winter time?!

When I have to put my son in schedule when he is jet lagged this is what I do, I let him stay as late as possible the night before, wake him at the regular hour the next day.

He used to be a little cranky for ONE day but able to get on with life on the second. Much better IMO that spending days or weeks trying to sort them up.

marking place as also want to know the answer. bit scared DS will start waking at (what will then be) 4am - he's getting up at 5 at the mo [yawn]

First time I did it DS was 11 months, the time use difference was 7 hours. He coped well.

I second chandra's advice. Inadvertantly did it without realising the first time (10pm flight, landed 10hrs later so DS only got about 7hrs sleep) and now use it to good effect on trips since. However I'm not bothering with the clocks next week as we're taking him to Japan the following week! Hope your DCs settle into the new time easily though.
