Ok my very nearly 12 month old ds has a rotten cold, upset tummy, teething pain ect, very miserable.

He has always slept on the morning shool run between 9ish and 10 and then goes down again arond 12pm for 1.5-2 hours then bed at 6.30ish.

He wakes at 2am for a bottle and then up for the day 7am.

Since being ill his daytime naps are shorter and he has been waking between 2am and settling again around 4am and up at 7am.

Now he is getting better he is still waking at 2am but going straight back to sleep but is waking for the day at 5.30am!!!

Do you think that he got used to missing a coulple of hours sleep in thenight and is now taking it off the end of his sleep, therefore waking earlier?
Dont like to leave him to cry when ill, but 5.30 starts with 2 other ds is very hard.
Its only been 3 mornings but would like to nip it in the bud before it becomesa habbit.

Many thanks

The secret is routine. You start with what you have and slowly build up. Your focus should be during the day time- get him tired with lots of fresh air. Play around with lunch time sleep or see if you can keep him up till 7 or 7.30.

However, what ever you do just remember the worst is over - it does get better.
