dd will be moving into her cot tommorow sniff sniff so need to go out and buy mattress (dont get me started on that) and her new bedding but dont know if she can have a quilt yet although she would kick it off anyway. shes 5 months at the mo is it too soon or should that be on my shopping list for tommorow

No i think for as long as they are in cots its advisable to use a sheet and a blanket - i forget their name, but the ones with little holes in.

Eperts reccommend children be 12 months before using a quilt, but I used them at 9 months

i used a quilt from 2 weeks with my ds and only then because i had visions of him being in his moses basket longer

The advice is no duvets/quilts or cot bumpers until they are 12 months.

Grobags (baby sleeping bags) are brilliant, starshaker - and no danger of kicking them off. They are pricey but sell well on ebay once outgrown.

yeah we have a sleeping bag for her at the mo which ill be selling soon if any1 is interested. generally if its cold i but her sleepsuit on or put her in her bag. she hates anything covering her feet if shes on her back so covers etc get kicked off anyway. just thought as its coming up to winter and its very cold here in the house i thought a quilt would be ideal but didnt want to risk it if it was too early. knew i could rely on all the mums that have been there. i dont always go by guidlines as some of them are a bit unacheavable
