Introducing a comforter at 9 months?

Not sure where to post this thread but am thinking of introducing a comforter for my 9 month DD. As of 5 weeks ago she started sleeping through and so far it's been going well. She still falls asleep on me in the evening having her last feed from me (something I enjoy doing as I work full time so love having that connection still).

My "problem" is that she loves waving her hand about and grabbing at my face and chest. Something that was cute when she was really young, but now she's stronger and has sharp wee nails, it's actually getting to be really painful Confused!!

So I'm thinking maybe a comforter may help as an alternative to grab on to. Is it too late to introduce one at 9 months? If not, how do I go about it? Any thoughts and tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

My children both had these and to be honest they were a godsend. Never had a problem with them going to sleep. If it is just something to hold on to your wee one needs I would suggest the original blanky with wide trim as my two loved the feel of the satin edges.

No it is not too late.
IME babies don't a grab conforter before around a year, so she will probably do it on her own soon anyway. Does she have a favorite cuddly toys? or does she likes rubbing a muslin on her nose/or sucking it? These are usually good start. Can you wear a cotton scarf and let her hold it while feeding? (then cut it to make a conforter from it when she is used to it?)

good luck, mine is 8 months and bitting when she is cuddling me, thanks she is now on on a bottle, lots of waving pinching, pulling while feeding too. I hope it is only a phase. DD1 was feeding herself from 5 months on so I never had that before. She has a bunny conforter for bed though and a muslin (left from the BF time) that she really like snuggling too.

Thanks guys. Grumpalo I've already had a peek at the comforters online and they're lovely! Just how I remember mine but much funkier!! In the meantime I'll be trying mamloco's advice and wearing a cotton scarf while I feed her.

Thanks!
