WTF?? 4 month sleep regression? Teething? When will it end????

Someone please tell me what is going on with my 4 month old!!

She's never been a wonderful sleeper, but we had got to the stage where she would sleep through the night from 10.30 til 6.30 without too much protest. She hasn't wanted to feed in the night from approx 8 weeks.

Last week she developed a cold and obviously her sleep went to pot for a night. Then she was so tired she slept wonderully for 4 days! Then as soon as she starts making an improvement she's sleeping worse than ever. She woke 8 times last night, cried for 5 minutes or so and went back off (on her own - I never actually went in as I could hear she was settling herself down).

I do wonder if she's teething. After her cold she is still hot and rosy in one cheek, is a bit grumpy and is drooling like mad. But my first baby was like this for months before a tooth actually came through so am unsure - does this, plus the night waking sound like teething?

Also I keep hearing about the four month sleepp regression. Could this be it?

Can anyone tell me what is going on, and also how I should get through it - I have no real problem with a bit of crying (don't lynch me, I'm not going to just leave her to scream all night.

Oh I'm tired and rambling - and it defo not a growth spurt- she really isn't hungry.

Thanks

Oh sorry should add - been to the docs and he has ruled out ear infection. Just gave me a glazed look when I suggested his recommendation of 25ml of calpol every 4 hrs was enough to knock out a horse.

We've recently been through this, although a bit later in our case - DD was about 5 months. It lasted for about 3 weeks, she'd previously slept 7-4ish no problem, started waking up at 11, 1.30, 3, 4, 5.30 every night. Also got a bad cold.

It was teething, she got 2 bottom teeth through at pretty much the same time a couple of weeks later. She has since settled down again and has even slept 7-7 twice in the last week.

I was at my wits end, one night she was in obvious pain I gave her 2.5ml of calpol which helped, and Anbesol helped a bit after rubbing on her gums, apart from that I think it's just a case of waiting for the teeth to come through? Sorry nothing more useful!

No that's helpful Eagle - I just have got no clue whatis going on with her- it's awful not being able to help. DD1 was a perfect sleeper and nothing, not even chicken pox affected her sleep so this is all new to me. God love her, she's in a terrible mood today. I can only assume it's her teeth, but I'm taking her back to the docs for another check. I have no faith in a man who thinks 25mls of calpol sounds right for a 16 week old
