My DS is 17 months old and we have co-slept since he was about 4 months old, any tips on the transition to a cot bed?

Thanks

We put DD1s cotbed next to ours with a bed guard on the other side, so to start with it was just like an extention. She would start the night in it, and then if she wanted to shuffle over she would, sometimes without even waking us up. We have a pretty low bed though, which helps. We also weren't in a rush to move her, which meant we could chill out about it. Once she was spending longer in her own bed, we used Grobag's 'first duvet set', where the duvet is zipped on to the bottom sheet, and ditched the bed guard. I think she was just under 2 when we did that.

Have you read Elizabeth Pantley's No Cry Sleep Solution? Most libraries have it, and it has some nice ideas on how to make those kinds of transitions without being too preachy.
