16 month old blanket

This is probably a demented question, but my 16 month old always sleeps in a sleeping bag - one is in the washing machine and he threw milk all down the other just before bed.
Is he safe with a blanket if it's not tucked in? Obviously I know you shouldn't do this with young babies but once they are toddlers is it OK?

Thanks in advance ...

My DS always slept in a sleeping bag too, but once it got hot in June, I stopped putting him in a sleeping bag, instead put a light blanket over him so he could kick it off if he got too hot. He was 17 months at the time, and was absolutely fine. He kicks it off every night and ends up sleeping under nothing, but that's the way he seems to like it.

I have three bags to solve this problem as they take a while to come through the wash/dry process in my house!

I also have three summer weight ones.

Thanks pjd. He has just been kicking the blanket off so will end up sleeping without it too. Has been making a big fuss but quiet now so hopefully will go off soon.

Blankets are absolutely fine :) My DS2 is of the Grobag generation but much older DS1 always had blankets and DS2 has them when the Grobag is in the wash.
