Early wakings ... any advice?

DS1 is coming up 3 (in October). He's always slept really well and woken by 7 most mornings.

Anyway, last 2 months or so, he's been waking earlier and earlier and he's got into the routine of waking at 5.15am every morning. This morning he woke at 4.15am and was ready for the day. We did manage to get him back into bed and he dozed for a bit (between calling out), but woke and was back up again at 5.15.

Agh!! DS2 is 21 weeks and still up at midnight and 3 for feeds, so I'm shattered. I could really do with that extra hour to 'lie in' in the morning.

We've tried one of those 'sleep clocks' and it worked for a day. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

He goes to bed about 7 (falls asleep about half past) and we've also tried dropping his daytime nap recently. It doesn't seem to make that much difference. I've taken him out for huge long walks at the zoo / park etc - he is definitely physically worn out! Any advice or words of wisdom very much appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

Does he have his room darkened?
It made huge difference for my son to have blind in his room.

Yeah, we've got blackout lining on the back of his curtain. Maybe we should invest in a blind too.

you could try some of the tips suggested here:

early waking

Helped a bit with mine but it is hard... mine still revert to being bright eyed at 5:30 now and again!
