Milk before naps?

Hi,

My 8 month DS has ended up having his daytime bottles before his naps, mainly because giving his bottles before food resulted in him not eating much and due to early wakings, by the time he has had his breakfast and waited half an hour it is due for his nap.

He is not going to bed asleep but is often very drousy.

Is this a bad thing - he can settle himself when he wakes at night (with a little fussing) and is generally having long naps - but will he become dependent on this (rod for my own back type of thing)

Am I worrying over nothing?

i don't think so. My ds2 always had milk before his nap.
He is now 18 months and i have only recently stopped giving it to him.
we all sit down for a story at about 1pm and he'd have his milk then, but once he stopped drinking it, i stopped offering it, now he just has a story and goes.
