what time is bed time for a 7 week old?

Hello

After 2 kids, both of whom are reasonably good sleepers, you;d think I'd know the answer to this, but what time do you all think is the right time for a 7 week old to go to bed?

I'm giving mine her last feed at 6.30ish, just after she's been in the bath, then she's asleep by 6.45 ish.

The only reason I ask is because after 10-15 mins, she's awake again, then seems to drift in and out for about 90mins, before settling down. Shes quite fussy and fidgety, and I'm wondering if maybe the early evening sleep disturbances are to do with her being over tired.

So do you think I should get her down for the night a bit earlier? Can't remember what time bedtime was at this age for number 1. Don;t want to put her down too early in case it means she's up earlier for her 10pm feed, then so on, and so on..... resulting in an earlier wake up.

Oh god, just re read this. I'm totally overthinking this.haha. Let me know what you think, but I'm thinking she just needs to go to bed earlier!!

My 7 week old goes down at exactly the same time. She has to really as she has her bath with DD1, last feed whilst doing story then both go to bed at roughly the same time. Can be a bit of a juggling act but we are getting there!

I often also have a bit of fussing but it's normally reflects what has gone before. If she didn't nap properly earlier on, then she might be too tired to feed and will therefore fuss.

That's weird - that's exactly our bedtime routine! Know what you mean it is a bit of a juggling act. Thats another reason why I'm reluctant to pull her bedtime forward - I'd like her to have a bath and a story with her sister in the long run. I guess I could try an earlier bedtime tonight, and see how it goes. How are you finding life with a 7 wk old and another one??

My DD went to bed around 9pm at that ages... every time I tried to settle her earlier she would wake minutes later so always seemed to be around 9pm when she got into that deeper sleep.... sometimes even 10pm. Now at 13 weeks we seem to be creeping earlier and she will go down 7.30-8pm.

Hey Scarlett, sounds like you found something that works for you - well done Mrs! It's easier said than done. Sounds like you know what your baby needs. I've been putting mine down that bit earlier the last few nights, and she seems to settle ok and go the same length of time, so I'll just do that for a bit. They're odd bods these babies aren't they? hehe x
