Help, we're having a nightmare getting my 2 1/2 yr old off to sleep. We've always stayed with her til she was asleep, but until 6 months ago, she was happy with someone just in the room, now we've somehow got into the habit of holding her hand through the cot bars and still it takes ages to get her off to sleep, she's also stopped sleeping through the night - probably 'cos she can't sleep without a hand!

More complicated by a 10 week old younger sister - we've no time for a 2 hour bedtime routine and sleeping on big girls floor!!!!

Suggestions welcome please - desparate to avoid controlled crying...

A life-like doll who 'needs your dd to hold her hand to help her get off to sleep?

She perhaps feels a bit insecure now 10 week has arrived and needs to know you're still there as you were before.

Or wean her off by replacing something soft into her hand when she's dropping off.
